Farncombe jewellery tutor Sara Withers has recently published a new book “The Encyclopedia of Wire Jewellery” – it covers all aspects of wire jewellery making. This includes the very basics, such as a description of the tools required and an exploration of different types of wire through to advanced techniques. In The Encyclopedia of Wire Jewellery, Sara Withers takes the reader through to basic silver smithing techniques which opens up a new range of opportunities for a jewellery maker.
The Encyclopedia of Wire Jewellery is broken down into sections. These include core techniques, making findings, how to make decorative shapes, decorative chains, how to decorate beads and stones, knitting and crochet techniques, constructing with wire and silversmithing. Sarah Withers ends with a gallery of work by wire jewellery artists from around the world.
You can buy the book from all major retailers. You can also meet Sara at Art in Action 15-18 July 2010 (www.artinaction.org.uk) where she will be running 3 workshops for Farncombe Estate. For details of her other jewellery making courses please visit our website http://www.farncombeestate.co.uk/
