Introduction to Digital Photography - New Weekend Course at Farncombe Estate

For students completely new to digital photography. Bring your own digital camera (compact, bridge or DSLR) or borrow one from us. Course will concentrate on taking photographs (not image manipulation with a computer) and will look at the basics of picture taking beyond the convenience of the Auto button. Following tuition covering techniques to improve your photography and an illustrated lecture on composition, a field trip in the grounds of Farncombe Estate is complemented with an in-depth review of students' photographs using digital projection.

Bursaries available for Dartmoor Arts Summer School 2010

Bursaries available for places at Dartmoor Arts 2010 summer school. Courses on offer this year include documentary photography, spatial structures, digital photography, painting, drawing, storytelling, iron casting, stone carving and earth art.

Art and culture magazine, Aesthetica, is inviting all artists, writers and poets to submit their work for the Aesthetica Creative Works Competition 2010.

Now in its third year, the Creative Works Competition is dedicated to celebrating and championing creative talent across three disciplines: 'Artwork & Photography', 'Poetry' and 'Fiction'.

Three winners, one from each category, will each receive £500 prize money and the winners and finalists will be published in the Creative Works Annual. Other prizes will also be available. Closing date: 31 August 2010.

Foto8 Summer Show 2010 - Enter Now!

Enter your work for a chance to be exhibited in London’s prestigious HOST gallery and to be awarded Best in Show.

After the enormous success of the previous years’ Summer Shows, Foto8 and HOST Gallery are pleased to announce the call for entries for the third-annual Foto8 Summer Show: a photographic award, exhibition and print fair. The show will follow in Foto8’s tradition of supporting and encouraging work by contemporary and independent photographers.

The Entrants
The 2010 Summer Show is open to all photographers from 29 March. Details on how to enter your work will be available soon. Deadline for all entries is 31 May 2010.

The Exhibition
The Foto8 team including 8 Magazine and HOST gallery editors will choose over 150 images to be displayed at HOST from 26 July – 4 September, to create an inspiring variety of framed and mounted images of all shapes and sizes, installed from floor to ceiling. All works included in the show will be available for sale. The print exhibition will kick-off with live music and a street festival taking over Honduras Street, EC1 on Friday 23 July. Calling Artists and Art Groups for exhibitions in 2011, West Midlands

Are you creative? Is your work new, of good quality, does it have something to say? If you would like to exhibit your work, please call the Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery today for an application form and selection details or download them from the museum’s web page. The deadline date for all applications is now set for Friday 21st May 2010.

The Museum has three galleries devoted to temporary exhibitions, all varying in sizes. Whether you are a solo artist, group, painter, sculptor, animator, craft-maker, illustrator, photographer or 3-D artist – we want to show your work in our Museum.

Please note that terms and conditions apply to accepting an exhibition slot at the Museum. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The application process is competitive and not all applications will be successful.

Where to find us and what we do

Farncombe Estate is situated just outside the Cotswold village of Broadway. We are approximately 50 minutes from Oxford, Birmingham and Bristol and easily located from the M5, M40 and M42.

There is a direct rail service from London Paddington to Moreton in Marsh which is our nearest rail station. To help rail travellers we offer a return taxi collection service from the station.
