Glass Artist Paul Floyd will lead afternoon sessions on glass fusing. Teaching the basics of fusing, cutting glass to a pattern and working with colored sheet glass, frits and powders. Only 3 people per workshop for maximum individual attention – by the end you will have made a beautiful light catcher.

A journey into 200 years of transport - West Midlands 17 July - 29 August
Learn more about the canals that flow through the borough. Find out more about the development of the railways. Come and visit this new display at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery. Presenting the developments of different modes of transport around the borough, this exhibition covers 200 years of history which has included the development of roads, canals and railways.
The display includes activities for children. Try a driver hat on for different vehicles, piece together a transport puzzle, become a driver or passenger in a car and work out what road signs and signals mean.
See the impact that transport has had on local areas through a range of objects and photographs from the museum’s collections on display.
Visit this exhibition to discover how transport has contributed to local people’s lives and the area we know today.
Suitable for all of the family, entry to the museum is free!

OPEN WEST MIDLANDS 2010 - win up to £1000
Open is collaboration between Birmingham Museum and Art gallery and Wolverhampton Art Gallery celebrating the wide talent of West Midlands Art Scene allowing artists the opportunity to show their work at the events.
Artists living in Birmingham and the West Midlands (Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire) are welcome to submit their work.
Prizes are to be won: 1st Prize - £1000, 2nd Prize - £500, 3rd Prize - £250.
The selection process will take place in January 2010 by independent judges and successful applicants will be notified by 1st February 2010.
There is a £10 non-refundable entry fee for submitting one piece of work £15 for two pieces, or £20 for three pieces.
The deadline for applications is 3rd January 2010.

Sing! Right Up Your Street
Sing! Right Up Your Street (18th - 24th October 2009) is a week long celebration of adult choirs and singing groups in the West Midlands. Across the region choirs and groups will be holding free open rehearsals, reaching out to new members and anyone with a passion for song. Many will be streaming rehearsals live on to the Internet at www.singwm.com
There will also be free adult workshops, organised by some of the West Midlands’ top choir leaders and singing tutors, specially designed to help even the most inexperienced singer find a confident voice. If you’ve ever wanted to sing, this is a fun, friendly and free place to start.
Sing! Right Up Your Street ends on Saturday 24th October with public performances in city centres around the region, celebrating those that took part in the project and promoting opportunities for adults to sing in the West Midlands.

Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum OPEN 2009
The exhibition, which takes place between the 5 June and 2 August , is open to all professional artists based in the West Midlands, with the stipulation that work must have been completed after 1 January 2008.
