There certainly is a method underlying most successfully completed novels - and many secrets to learn. As the author of nearly a dozen published novels I can confirm that if you just start writing with no idea of where you're going you will usually grind to a halt. Fellow scribes, learn all the secrets you can - and enjoy the journey.
